At Chinela Sailing, we are pleased to announce that in the coming months, we will be offering Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited courses, expanding our training offerings and reaffirming our commitment to excellence in sailing education.
The RYA is the UK’s national governing body for sailing, yacht and motor cruising, dinghy racing, powerboating, and other water sports. Founded in 1875 as the Yacht Racing Association, the RYA has evolved into an internationally recognized authority in nautical training, setting standards that are respected and adopted worldwide.
By becoming an RYA-accredited training center, Chinela Sailing ensures that our courses meet the highest international standards of quality and safety. Our instructors will be RYA-certified, and our vessels will undergo rigorous inspections to comply with the criteria established by this prestigious association.
We will offer a wide range of courses tailored to different experience levels and objectives, from beginner training to advanced certifications such as the Yachtmaster Ocean. The latter is the highest-level certificate awarded by the RYA, ideal for those preparing for ocean crossings. To obtain this certification, candidates must hold the Yachtmaster Offshore qualification, have completed a passage of at least 600 nautical miles, and demonstrate skills in celestial navigation and ocean passage planning.
